To Feel Better, You Need To Unpack Guilt and DIY
Life is way happier when you say no to guilt
Guilt has no place here. Above all, hold firm to the boundary: choose joy, not guilt, I remind myself while unpacking a box of stored memories.
Hubby tries to cram another load from storage into our already full basement. Years ago, I would have lost it and told him where to shove those old company boxes.
The build-up of stuff piled high, overflowing closets, and jammed drawers reminds me of what I learned years ago.
Clutter is not the problem.
It is the holding on to it
that creates stuckness,
clouds our perceptions
and paralyzes our life.
— Stephanie Bennett Vogt
My response is calm, without eye-rolling sarcasm: Hon, that is not staying here. He gets the hint.
Less clutter leads to less stress, creating more time and space for what truly matters.
Extra time means making art, writing, and DIY projects — as the muse moves me.
