Warning: This is unusually opinionated for me and refers in passing to ‘adult content’.

The last seven months have seen US arms support for Ukraine dry up, apart from a small $138 million HAWK missile system deal. The government of the superpower has ground to a halt as a result of pork-barrel politics, Russian infiltration, poor policy advice and a distinct lack of leadership from the front.

But the main force which has strangled US politics and is affecting Ukraine’s very survival Trump’s backseat driving of Congress, US politics and, indirectly, US policy towards Ukraine.

There is no doubt in my mind that Putin has the goods on Trump following his much publicised sessions with Russian prostitutes during a visit to Moscow on Nov. 9, 2013, while he was in Moscow for the Miss Universe pageant. Putin is holding this over Trump’s head.

But this story is not about Trump’s bedroom antics.
