The Doge NFT Turns 1!
The world’s most famous meme (Kabosu the Doge) has been an NFT for one year now. Let’s look at what The Doge NFT community has done so far, what we’re doing right now to celebrate, and what we have coming up. Woof!
In case you’ve been living under an EtherRock, The Doge NFT was purchased by PleasrDAO for $4.8M USD in 2021. You know PleasrDAO, they also bought the unique Wu-Tang album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, after the US Government seized it from pharma-bro, Martin Shkreli.
Then The Doge NFT was fractionalised into $DOG tokens, through Tessera (formerly Fractional.art). You can now lock your $DOG in The Pixel Portal and randomly mint a unique Pixel from The Doge NFT. And guess what, that Pixel is an NFT as well, and it’s your first class ticket to fun and all things Doge.
So, if you hold $DOG, or Pixels, you ‘Own The Doge’ and that makes you a treasured member of our DAOge.
To celebrate our first birthday, we’re rewarding Pixel Holders with 2 unique NFT drops. Both pieces are from a music video made by pplpleasr, cloudeatr, and Bassjackers (one of them is a SoulBound NFT based on a snapshot of $DOG Holders that happens at 9 am PT on the 30th of August, so depending on when you’re reading this, you might have time to get in!).
But more on that later. First, let’s go back in time…
What has The Doge done did already?
Well, heaps.
As part of our Community Fund, we have an allocation for The Bark Tank. Think Shark Tank, but with fewer fins and more paws. The Bark Tank Council assesses grant applications and supports ideas that do good, add WOW to the world, and provide perks for our DAOge members. Here are some of our greatest hits from The Bark Tank so far.
The Pixel Portal
The place to lock your $DOG away, in return for shiny pixels. Look at all the shades of colour! Much yellow. Very squares. The Pixel Portal is launching V2 on the 8th of September with lots of fun new features. And it’s gonna keep getting built out, so go and get your piece of meme history now.
Working with our frens Julia Love and Gary Lachance, we’ve sent everyone’s favourite Doge-wrapped supercar to NFT events across the US. Wherever it goes, heads are turnt. There’s always a decentralised dance party nearby whenever the DogeClaren completes a tasty “barallel bark.”
The Doge Temple
A mini metaverse (a microverse) for divine interventions, events, and contemplation under the visage of the grand Dogeness.
Fast Food Doges
We worked with Elliot from Fast Food Frens to expand their universe of frycook pepes, to create a bunch of Dogely frens.
The Doge Puppet
Award-winning Australian puppetry not-for-profit Spare Parts Puppet Theatre created the world’s first Doge Puppet, which now has its own TikTok… which is a sentence you’ll only see in web3.
The Doge Academy
A community-driven project focused on the creation, sharing, and rewarding of knowledge in the Web3 ecosphere. Where else can you learn to build a robot or 3d printer? The Doge Academy was acquired by The Doge NFT, and now lives within our Discord.
Dog Tools
A way to track $DOG price and holders, which looks at the on-chain data and feeds it out in a bite-sized morsel.

Sand Art
Irish artist, Manu does incredible work, which then gets donated to the ocean. He carved out the largest Doge to ever grace this blue marble.
Stacy Gougoulis
Host of Australia’s Triple J, Stacy is a sought-after artist. We worked with him to create a collection of Doge-inspired celebrity mashups. We’ve got Sia (loves dogs), we’ve got Snoop Dogg (is dog), we’ve got Doja Cat (is cat, but has Doge in name). We’re sitting on these NFTs, with plans for greatness in our back pawckets.
NFD Token Swap
Always wanting to stay frenly with other Doges and fractionalised NFT communities, we coordinated a token swap with Path. So the NFD community now holds $DOG, and we hold $NFD. All Doges rise together.
Bandanas
Jim Stoten designed a one-of-a-kind Doge-inspired image, so we partnered with Shopify to launch our merch store. 169 Doge Bandanas were made, and they were free to claim for Pixel Holders.
Community Calls
We host The Woof Weekly calls on Twitter Spaces to provide community updates, bark at cars, chat with awesome guests/community members, and just vibe. We’ve chatted to Billy Markus, Path, Dank Bank, Sminem, and more! Elon Musk wen?
Ok, while we have huge plans for the future, you’ve done well to read this far. So let’s get to the present before we look ahead. And by the present, we mean, presents!
Bassjackers NFT drops
Two things are happening. Here’s the background.
Bassjackers are a Dutch duo, listed at number 28 on DJMag’s top 100 DJs of 2021. They’ve collaborated with Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Snoop Dogg, and Paris Hilton. In Doge We Trust is the smash hit Doge tune they wrote for us last year.
pplPleasr is a multidisciplinary artist whose genesis NFT inspired the formation (and name, obvs) of PleasrDAO. She’s worked as a visual artist on Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, and Star Trek Beyond.
pplpleasr has worked with cloudeatr to create a music video for In Doge We Trust. The music video is being dropped as an NFT and for the entire month of September, Pixel Holders can mint one for free (plus gas) here.
ALSO, to reward longtime $DOG Holders, there will be another drop. As mentioned, there will be a snapshot taking place at 9 am PT on the 30th of August. Anyone with at least one $DOG token by this time, on ANY chain, will be able to mint a SoulBound NFT. This will be one of four different NFTs, taken from the In Doge We Trust music video.
