In the hustle of our daily lives, we often involve a constant stream of schedules, goals, and worldly pursuits. The clock ticks ceaselessly, reminding us that time is our brief companion. You cannot borrow it, time respects no one and we donโt know what tomorrow will bring, says in James 4:14: โFor what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.โ
To us, life seems long and we measure it in years. However, the bible measures it as frail and unpredictable as a vapor that vanishes. Here for a moment, and then gone. Life is short, regardless of its length. For some, this is a depressing thought, while others view it as the end of our suffering in this world.
Ecclesiastes 3:1โ2 echoes James 4:14 by emphasizing the seasons of life; it says, โTo every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to dieโฆโ None of us will live forever in this world. 1 Peter 1:24 declares, โFor all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:โ
It reminds us of the significance of living each day as a precious gift, and by acknowledging the fragility of time, weโre prompted to pursue a life of purpose. Realizing the need to cherish every single moment, as the Psalmist prays for wisdom in our daily lives in Psalm 90:12: โSo teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.โ
As children of God, we are called to be wise in how we live our lives and to make the most of every opportunity that God gives us. The Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 5:16, โRedeeming the time, because the days are evil.โ Remember that each day is a gift, and we are called to be His good stewards of the time that we have been given.
So, if youโre feeling discouraged or uncertain about the future, remember the words of James 4:14. We may not know about tomorrow, but we know who holds our futureโฆ that is our Lord Jesus Christ. โ 1 John 2:17 says, โAnd the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.โ
Brethren, in this temporary time, there is a constant, an eternal truth โ Jesus Christ. Our life is just temporary, but thereโs a life beyond time, and it can be found only in Christ Jesus, the Eternal One. The Lord is trustworthy for He never changes, Hebrews 13:8 affirms, โJesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.โ
Amidst lifeโs uncertainties, Jesus remains our steadfast hope, offering eternal life beyond the ticking clock. Seek Him always and His guidance as we navigate the ups and downs of life. Donโt waste our time on worry or sorrow; live for Christ, for thereโs no time to borrow.
Always Begin With Godโฆ
Prayer: Lord, in the brevity of our days, teach us to live with purpose and wisdom. May we find solace in Your enduring Word and anchor our souls in the unchanging love of Jesus Christ. Amen.
