If you’re sick and tired of your stressed-out, so-so Christian life, you‘ll want to renew your mind in Christ with these biblical truths.

I’m sure you’ve heard or seen these verses before, but do you really know what they mean on a personal level?

You don’t have to live feeling trapped by the cares of this world.

You CAN have a happier walk with Jesus because you are free.

DEAD TO SIN, ALIVE TO GOD

Bible Truth #1: You were dead in Sin.

Once, you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, (we were) just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil — the spirit leader of the powers in the unseen world.

He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. We all used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our godless nature…. Eph.2:1–3(NLT)

Bible Truth #2: Now you are Alive to God.

Just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, NOW God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us who believed right standing with God and results in eternal LIFE through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:21(NLT)

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. 2Cor. 4:7 (NLT)

Bible Truth #3: Sin is NOT your master.

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. Romans 6:6 (NLT)

And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Romans 6:4b(NLT)

… Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Romans 6:2(NLT)

Bible Truth #4: You used to be a sinner, but now you are a saint. For real.

The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2Cor. 5:15(NLT)

To the saints, the faithful brethren in Christ Col. 1:2(NET)

To the church of God at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, .. 1 Cor. 1:2(NET)

.. we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints. Col.1:4 (NET)

If These Verses Are True, And We Are Saints, Then Why Do We Still Sin?

Just like a new baby will be a grownup someday, the baby doesn’t act like a grownup for quite some time.

He learns mostly from what he sees around him in the world while he is growing.

Right from the start, the dear little one will be programmed from the outside in to learn how to be a grownup that he will express through his distinct personality and temperament, as a sinner.

So also, we new creations, born again in Christ, as saints, don’t know how to act as mature Christians act until we grow up fully and continually have our minds renewed/reprogrammed during the journey. See Romans 12:2

And we will grow up from the inside out!

Besides, we don’t know exactly what we will fully be until Christ returns and we see Him as He is. See 1 John 3:2

You know you are a saint on the inside. You are a new creation. You know sin has no power to keep you.

What we don’t have yet is a fully equipped resurrection body! Jars of clay.

We still have the flesh, which is the system of all our old faulty thinking and beliefs, automatic habits, and memories of how to live the old life.

The flesh can agitate us, and our automated systems are triggered, just like a security system in a house. We are God’s temple.

When our emotions are triggered, they feel like us, as if we are not new inside. But like the security system, when sin tries to use our old dead memories to get us to misbehave, the alarm bells or sirens start going off.

We don’t feel at ease about sinning. But we don’t recognize it as the enemy after us. We usually think it IS us and that we have done something terrible to cause God to be unhappy.

I’m sure it feels like it did in the Garden — did God really say that — we are saints? I’m not sure in my feelings. I’m a sinner so I might as well sin. NO. I am a saint. I believe by faith and talk to Dad about it.

The advantage we have right now is to willingly choose to be reprogrammed.

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Col.3:10 (NLT) That is, think about it. Remember who you are, in reality, a saint. Talk to Dad. He’s got your back.

The Holy Spirit teaches us as we go. Grace teaches us to say no to sin and to live by the Spirit, who will produce self-control in us. *see Titus 2: 11–14

Time To Choose Happier

Don’t settle for being a miserable Christian any longer!

Think about it: Since you have been raised to a new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor … Col. 3:1(NLT) All this is yours in Christ. Let Dad help you.

You are a new creation saint. You want to experience the new creation life. You do. You can have it.

Dogs don’t want to drive cars. You don’t want to sin. As you grow, it does get easier. Allow Holy Spirit to teach you. That’s why Jesus gave Him.

Don’t (continue to) copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you (your behavior) into a new person (behavior) by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans12:2(NLT)

You will always be saved, but you might as well enjoy the trip. Christians can’t be happy believing they are sinners.

For sure , no matter what issues you are dealing

with, if you haven’t talked to Dad about this,

now is the time!

If you have questions, feel free to ask. I have learned so much from Dr. Andrew Farley. He is an excellent Grace teacher if you want to check him out in this video about Godly behavior.
