For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. (Zechariah 2:8 says, King James Version)

God calls us the apple of His eye. We can see this in the timeline of creation too. Multiple creations were created in the first five days. But the sixth day was reserved just for man. I find that pretty cool.

Have you ever attended a wedding? There’s so much preparation that goes into a wedding. The venue, the reception hall, the caterers, the food, the florists, the photographers, the dress code, the band, the list goes on. I’ve only been a part of the latter end of wedding plans so I’m yet to see the leg work needed to make all of it happen.

When we look at the timeline of creation, we see something interesting. God first created heaven and earth. Next up, He created light and formed the sky. Then He created land and the waters. He covered the land with vegetation. He then sprinkled the sky with stars. He then created every creature that lives in water and the birds of the air. He then created the creatures that walk on land.

God was quite the busy bee those first five days. It seems like He was preparing for something big.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26 says, King James Version)

God created the universe before welcoming us into the world. So, is the creation of man the greatest wedding of all time? I was blown away when I saw the timeline of creation this way. All that planning for the sixth day. That’s how precious we are to God.

Eternity with God far exceeds the beauty we see, for we will be in the midst of incomprehensible beauty; such is the presence of God.

’Tis the never-ending wedding celebration, when creation is reunited with the Creator. If He created the universe to welcome us to earth, imagine the welcome party in Heaven :).
