“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Have you ever felt like a dead weight in your journey of faith? Like a disciple who struggles to keep up with the rest? It is not uncommon to experience moments of doubt, weariness, and feeling inadequate in our walk with Christ. However, it is important to remember that even in our weakest moments, Jesus extends His hand of grace and invites us to find rest in Him.

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” These words offer comfort and hope to the disciples who felt overwhelmed by the weight of their own limitations. Jesus understood the struggles they faced, just as He understands ours today.

A dead weight disciple is someone who feels like they are falling behind, unable to contribute or make a difference. They may feel inadequate because they still look at. pornography, smoke weed, lie about being sick when they are not because they don’t feel like talking to people. We lack in faith and instead of praying and trusting in God’s time , we contact a “spiritual doctor” to give us an immediate demonic answer for the intentional choice we got ourselves in. Deacons, missionaries, pastors, Sunday school teachers, or layman no one is exempt, we all are burdened by our own shortcomings. However, it is important to remember that our worth and value as disciples are not based on our own strength or abilities, but on the grace and love of our Savior.

When we feel like dead weight disciples, we can turn to Jesus for renewal and restoration. He invites us to lay down our burdens at His feet and find rest in His presence. It is in these moments of surrender that we discover the power of His grace and the strength to continue our journey of faith.

Instead of allowing our perceived inadequacies to weigh us down, let us remember that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). He equips us with everything we need to fulfill His calling, even when we feel incapable. Our role as disciples is not to carry the weight on our own but to trust in the power and provision of our Heavenly Father.

In our journey as dead weight disciples, let us embrace the truth that we are not alone. We are part of a community of believers who are also on a journey of faith. Together, we can encourage one another, lift each other up, and remind each other of God’s faithfulness.

So, dear dead weight disciple, do not lose heart. Your journey may feel challenging at times, but remember that Jesus is always with you. His grace is sufficient, His love is unwavering, and His strength is available to carry you through. Embrace His invitation to find rest, and allow Him to transform your weaknesses into opportunities for His glory.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I come to you as a dead weight disciple, feeling inadequate and burdened by my own limitations. Thank you for reminding me that my worth and value are not based on my own strength or abilities, but on your grace and love. Help me to surrender my burdens to you and find rest in your presence. Equip me with everything I need to fulfill your calling, and surround me with a community of believers who can encourage and lift me up. Thank you for your faithfulness, even in my weakest moments. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
