GOD & ABRAHAM & ISAAC: HONEST QUESTIONS — 4th OF 4: the LAST part

Is this a trick question?

This Akedah thing is becoming embarrassing for me! If you have not noticed that I have a good recipe for pork pies you haven’t been paying attention. I keep promising to finish the series (initially intended to be two parts but now up to about nine) and there is so much that hasn’t been touched.

I’ve decided to apply the guillotine and go straight to the Honest Question. Other stuff will come based on the Akedah but it will be on an ad hoc frequency.

A closer look at the perfectly valid, honest, question

If you have or had a son and you believe God asked you to kill him for the sake of testing your dedication, would you automatically do it without hesitation as the story indicates?

The answer to the actual question is very short

It is a question that no Saint can answer because God, Himself, is intimately involved.

What evidence is there for that claim?

There are a number of significant episodes in the Bible dealing with this topic. If three can’t convince you, you have decided not to be convinced.

Moses: he was a failed aristocrat who didn’t want to return to Egypt. He’d spent 40 years thinking he was a somebody, followed by 40 years becoming a nobody, followed by 40 years being a nobody for The Somebody. He could not see the end from the beginning.

Gideon: he was a social minnow from the least important family of Jacob’s sons. He could not see the end from the beginning.

Peter: his nickname was, “Gunner.” He was gunna do wonderful things for Jesus. He could not see the end from the beginning.

If you had asked each of these people, beforehand, what they would have done, what do you think their answer would be?

A bit of an anti climax, I know

Sorry it took so long. At least I enjoyed the trip.

This pattern was visible in the low beam. The high beam was not needed.

NT Saints miss so much by being Torahfied.

Admiral Nelson. “I see no ships”

Cast off the light. Seek the LIGHT.

The forgoing evidence has not been presented to convince any reader but to allow a personal decision to be made. There is much more to know about this subject. Perhaps you’ll pay another visit, sometime.

All Glory to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

(We all have a plank in our eye. It’s bigger than we think.)
