Recently, I have been noticing more and more controversy around women taking their husband’s last name. I think it’s fine if some choose not to, but why be upset at the majority of women that choose to?

I, for one, would take my husband’s last name any day.

I wanted to be a Bianco. I wanted to be publicly tied to my husband. When we have children, I want us all to proudly wear the same name.

Three and a half years of being a Bianco later, I still smile when I write or say my full name.

Becoming one.

“Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So, they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” — Mark 10:8–10 ESV

Besides the common reasons to change one’s last name, it also has great significance.
