Jesus Confirms The Old Testament Speaks Of Him—Eusebius’ Astute Comment

If you had asked me a few days ago which parts of the Old Testament Jesus declared as speaking of Him, I would have said the writing of Moses. While looking through a Commentary on the Psalms, Luke 24:44 had been inserted. Then Jesus said, “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the Prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.” (Luke 24:44) Jesus is speaking to the two disciples the Emmaus road after His resurrection. I had never noticed Jesus includes the Prophets and the Psalms as testifying of Him.

Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, pretty much covers the whole of the Old Testament. Psalm two seems to be an all-encompassing testimony regarding Jesus. Verse 2 differentiates between the Lord and His anointed. Jesus is the Christ- the anointed one. In verse 3 the Father sets Jesus as King. Verse 6 Jesus as the only begotten Son. Verse 8 the nations and the ends of the Earth become Jesus’ inheritance, through His atonement for the whole World. Verse 9 all judgment given to Jesus. Verses 11 and 12 are a micro personal presentation of the Gospel, ‘Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way — Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him,’

I have been reading Eusebius’ ‘History of the Church.’ Near the beginning of the book…
