Never Mind What They Say
The best defense in such a case
Acts 6:11 (KJV)
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
We must never be afraid of the testimony of those “suborned” to speak evil of our message. The word means “induced” or “thrown into.” The devil prods those who are taken captive by him at his will to say all manner of things against the Word of truth.
The best defense in such a case is a calm and peaceable countenance such as Stephen displayed in verse 15.
- Don’t panic at the threats
- Don’t react to the false witnesses
- Do boldly speak what it true
Stephen had said nothing against Moses.
Stephen had spoken nothing against the Law.
He had told the truth when he said that the message of Christ would replace their Temple and that worshiping Christ in spirit and in truth would change how they practiced the Word Moses had delivered to them.
Keep preaching the truth about Jesus with as friendly and loving countenance as the God of all mercy gives you.
Leave the results in the hands of the Lord.
