The 4 Ways the Christ Child Brings Peace

The prophecy in Isaiah 9 shines a light on His character

As Christmas approaches, considering the magnitude of the moment of Christ’s birth seems natural. That was the immediate response when Jesus arrived too. Scripture says,

But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. (Luke 2:19 NKJV)

I’ve often wondered what those thoughts may have been. Was it burdensome or liberating? Was she filled with the joy of the Lord? Did she use that sense of responsibility as a source of strength? I hope I would’ve thought in a positive way about the circumstances. I think keeping Him alive would’ve been pretty high on my priority list, but I’m more considering the difficulty of the age they were in compared to modern times.

In her pondering, surely she considered the prophecies of Isaiah more than 700 years before. Wow! Can you imagine being part of the fulfillment of such a huge prophecy? This Child and this Son! Did she know? I think she knew. And she was ready. He brought her that peace.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulders.
And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
