There Are 2 Ways To Walk
Only one way leads to spiritual growth, peace, and happiness.
If you’re a Christian who is prone to emotional upset and constantly second-guessing your standing with God, then you want to know the best direction, or way, to walk to get some needed relief.
Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology says that the infinitive “to walk” can be translated, in a Hebraistic way, “to live.”
So then, how shall we go about our daily life to experience more contentment, peace, and happiness with God?
The First Way To Walk Is For Unbelievers
You’ve probably wondered how a person can be a Christian and act like a sinner. It can be bothersome, but we do live in a fallen world. But Jesus has overcome the world.
It might seem that we are walking in the flesh, but that is not so. The apostle Paul said, “They that are in the flesh cannot please God” Romans 8:8 (ESV)
God is very pleased with us, His children. Even when we mess up.
We have all our memories and autopilot habits in our bodies that were left behind when the old self was crucified with Christ.
We are no longer living in the flesh, that is, the power of sin in our minds that owned us. Sometimes we just forget, or we long to feel our closeness to God. Some call this walking by the flesh instead of In. The Holy Spirit lets us know something is not right when we do.
The best teaching I’ve heard to explain this comes from Dr. Andrew Farley.
You are always in the Spirit, even when you walk by the flesh.
Walk By The Spirit — The Christian Way To Live
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if, in fact, the Spirit of God dwells in you. Romans 8:9(ESV)
those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Romans 8 5b(ESV)
the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6b(ESV)
Talk To God About It
I just decided one day, I was going to have my say about everything in my life to God. And I did. I didn’t even get struck by lightning! God is good.
And I have been a much happier Christian since I started talking to Dad and walking in Truth and setting my mind on the things of Jesus. But, there is one thing that occurs to me.
To choose to set your mind on things above requires a high level of trust that God is trustworthy.
That does not come easily to some, especially if they were hurt often and/or deeply before Salvation and had their minds programmed against trust of any type.
… let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good, pleasing, and perfect. Rom 12:2b
Be kind in questions and comments, and Bee Happy!
