This One Verse Isn’t Saying What You Think

Philippians 4:13 is so much more than what it’s become to many.

It’s easy to see the Bible as a collection of quotes, but it’s an actual story with a beginning and an end. There are parts in the Old Testament that get a little boring, and parts in the New Testament that get a little repetitive. There are certain parts that breathe life into our souls. There are various stories that even most nonbelievers know. But as a whole, it is one AMAZING book.

This picture “shows the 63,779 cross-references of scriptures in the Bible. Had the Bible been written by one person or at one time this would still be amazing; however, the Bible was written by 40 authors over the span of 1500 years on 3 different continents.” — From Instagram, @living_Christian

Don’t get me wrong… The Bible is full of passages that deserve highlighting and memorizing. Some are so straight forward that they don’t need a whole lot of contexts to back them up (Ex: John 3:16). While other well-known verses are great encouragement, they aren’t always applied in the ways they were meant to be.

Today, we will be specifically talking about Philippians 4:13.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
