WHAT IS TRUTH ABOUT WHAT IS LOVE IN THE BIBLE?

Is the Bishop a knave? Are the young boys safe?

Love, grace, inclusion, and tolerance are just a few of the hackneyed words of L-O-R-E masquerading as L-A-W in my part of town. Especially the Christian part of it.

The usual list of types of love taken as gospel are Agape (divine love), eros (physical love), stourge (parent-child love), philia (friendship). The Holy Spirit holds the Intellectual Rights to the Written Word of God (if you don’t wholeheartedly believe that you had better not waste your time on this post because I have nothing to say to you. Not that I don’t want to say it but you won’t listen.)

He chooses His Words well and there is something in the words He uses for love that normally goes over the head of the NT English Only Saint.

There is no mention of erōs in either the NT or OT (LXX)

Here is a copy of a personal correspondence between myself and my Greek Geek.[1]

Q: I know that Greek has several words for “love,” and one of them is eros. Does that word appear in the New Testament or the Greek Old Testament?

A: No, erōs does not appear at all in the New Testament, and I can’t find it in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Old Testament. It is the word that secular Greek used often to describe sexual attraction or physical desire. It is the source for our English word erotic, and the New Testament simply doesn’t use it.

Why wouldn’t the Holy Spirit use that term in the Bible?

Simply put, erōs, is pagan sexuality. It is the Greek word for our natural, self-centered sexual love based on physical attraction and is a passionate, erotic emotion that has an intoxicating effect on us. In Greek mythology, Eros was the Greek god of sexual attraction. His Roman counterpart was Cupid. Some myths make him a primordial god, while in other myths, he is the son of Aphrodite. He was one of the winged love gods.[2]

So, it’s true. God is against sex.

Not so. If that was the case, His Command to Noah in Genesis 9:7 || And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply in it, would be really, really hard work.

But without physical sex, how is it done?

It is written in Genesis 4:1 || And Adam knew (H3045) Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.

H3045 — yāḏaʿ יָדַע = meaning pretty obvious.

So?

The LXX translates יָדַע as γινώσκω (infection ἔγνω), G1097 ginōskō = generally, knowledge and understanding but, obviously, one of the meanings is sexual interaction between a man and a woman intimate enough to result in pregnancy.

Interestingly, this is the Greek word used by Jesus in the famous (and terrifying) Matthew 7:22–23 || Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew (G1097 — ginōskō) you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Does this mean that Jesus only lets those He has had sex with enter Heaven — male and female?

Obviously not! (But I’m surprised the same-sex attraction cohort hasn’t grasped that, yet.)

What it does show that there is a spectrum of meanings for words. This is called the Semantic Range. There are shades of meaning that depend on the context. (That last statement had to be made because of the claims made by the Rainbow Culture in their exegesis.)

The absence of the Pagan erōs, and inclusion of the Biblical ginōskō shows there is sex sanctioned by God and sex forbidden by God.

The Bishop in charge, Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe, 2001–2019, was (perhaps still “is” because he didn’t respond to my response) unaware of this. I’ve got nothing against him personally, it’s just his knowledge about one of the most sensitive trigger words in the Western World right now needs brushing up.

Is the Bishop a knave or naïve? I don’t know.

AND ANOTHER THING

It is often spruiked by same-sex attraction advocates that, “The Bible has same-sex relationships, like the Centurion and his boy.” I have to admit this is polar opposite to my way of thinking. There is no objection to people thinking, or saying, whatever they want so I’d better take another look — they may be correct because I missed something..

Luke 7:2–3 || There a centurion’s servant (G1401 — doulos), whom his master valued highly (G1784 — entimos), was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant (G1401 — doulos).

G1784entimos : KJV translation = “dear,” NIV & ESV translation = “highly valued.” Which is most apt?

Follow the thread.

G1784 — entimos = adjective = held in honor, prized, precious.←FROM←G5092 — timē = noun = of the price paid or received for a person or thing bought or sold.←FROM←G5099 — tinō = verb = to pay, to recompense.

So the etymology of G1784 — entimos has more a flavor of commercial value than emotional attachment.

G1401doulos = a slave, bondman, man of servile condition; metaph., one who gives himself up to another’s will. One whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing his cause among men.

This Greek term has the flavor of Deuteronomy 15. where all Hebrew indentured laborer's are to be set free after six years. (See THE TORAH AND ISRAELITE SLAVERY: THE SECOND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS LAW.). If the servant decided not to leave a good master, he or she went through a process to become a servant (H5650 — ʿeḇeḏ) forever (H5769 — ʿôlām) to that house — it had to be a mutual agreement between the servant (employee) and the master (boss). The Roman Centurion was not under the Law of Moses but it is evident that he had a heart soft to Yehovah. The master/servant relationship began as commercial but obviously a bond had been established. With the information provided in the Bible, no one knows the details but to deduce that it must have been sexual is drawing a long bow of wishful thinking — or fantasizing.

But there are those who keep on flaunting this obvious fact that Christians try to keep hidden.

They use this verse to show that Pederasty is smiled upon by God.

But I have a problem arriving at that conclusion.

I’m open to correction but, when I do a word search on G1401 — doulos, I find a number of surprising personages who identified as, or possessed, male sex slaves, as shown in Table 1.

Biblical times must have been a perpetual pride month. But, thinking about it, I must be wrong. The peddler of these alternative facts has 110k followers and the channel is for highly researched posts. I don’t even have 110 (even 100), and I do my own research.
