This quote (along with my recent study in Philippians) is what inspired me to write this post — Author’s photo

Consumerism is the norm. There is always something new or better to have. We are constantly having to keep up with all the upgrades. First world problems are full chasing after meaningless things. Meanwhile, third world problems are full of where their next meal will come from and whether or not their water is killing them.

As a Christian that is OVERLY blessed, I question whether we are really doing it right as a Christians.

The Bible has more to say on wealth and possessions than I think many would care to acknowledge.

In today’s first world countries, I wouldn’t say that Christians live more modestly than unbelievers. If we were to compare homes across these countries, would we really be able to point out the Christians? Probably not.

As Christians, should our blessings only be benefitting ourselves? Shouldn’t we be using EVERYTHING we have for the glory of God?

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” —…
