River water clings to Jesus’s skin as He emerges from the Jordan. His gaze is fixed upward, on a rippling anomaly in the sky.

The slender, snake-shaped disturbance of light convulses and then ruptures, leaving a jagged, wound-like gash in the fabric of the heavens.

Intense, uncreated power pours forth from this fissure as the outcasts standing around Jesus gasp. An otherworldly musical tone echoes over the ancient terrain.

A silhouette emerges from the gaping sky hole.

It’s a little bird

A dove! Pure and serene.

The dove coos peacefully as it descends, in stark contrast to the frightening chasm still gaping open above. It barely flaps its wings, gliding effortlessly in lazy circles.

The dove’s hyper-real luminescence casts an ethereal glow on the rippling river below and on the faces of those who watch in stunned amazement.

Time seems to stand still as the dove continues its downward trajectory.

Smiling, Jesus lifts His head and arches…
