God knows what we need before we even ask. God knows our hearts and minds better than we do, but a lot of us still struggle with not showing our true feelings in prayer. We think we have to be all sing songy, because feeling anything but joy isn’t right.

When we look at different people in the Bible, we quickly see how they don’t hold back. So, why should we? If God knows us and wants us a relationship with us, don’t you think He wants your honesty too?

My Thoughts on the Books in the Old Testament

14 stories

David was referred to as “a man after God’s own heart.” He is even a part of Jesus’ ancestry. Yet, he definitely cried out openly to God.

David is a great example of being honest with God. He freely laments, but then, he reminds himself of the truth. He praises God amidst his pain.

Psalms 22 and 23 really show this.
