Who knew the dead wouldn’t be the worst thing in an apocalypse

An old military base stood quiet and surrounded by nothing but crowded vacancy. A parking lot out front was littered with rubble, damaged cars, and debris built up over time. I was settled in with a group that I have been living with since I lost everyone I knew in my life before the outbreak.
