I Woke Up With Under the Bridge in My Head

A poem

The earworm wraps around my brain
Like a boa constrictor
30 year old lyrics
I haven't heard in a decade
Slither in to raise me
From makeshift dead

I have to slay him
He is sure to follow me
Tease me, taunt me

Take the oxygen from all I do

But I say no

I will replace him with bubblegum
Cotton candy, taffy
Music of denial and positivity
And sing the lie
Until it's true.
