Thank you for being here.

I am sitting in the waiting room, waiting for someone very close to me to get her body examined. The course of both our lives will change significantly the seconds she comes out, surprisingly — I’m very calm. Maybe it’s a good sign? Because your body knows how to prepare yourself for the upcoming event. I try to imagine her coming out laughing happily telling me it was just a good scare. Then, we would go on with our daily life doing our normal things.

There is a black and white picture of Sunflowers right in front of me — why would they put a black and white picture of Sunflowers on the wall? Sunflowers are famous for their bright yellow color — implying hope, strength, and courage. The black and white sunflowers imply death to me.

Death — a subject that almost nobody wants to talk about. I barely think about it too. Until something reminds us of how short life could be — that we waste a lot of time being worried about the things that don’t matter.

If you know exactly how many years you have left, what would you be doing?

One time someone told me that when she was a little kid, someone told her that she would only live until she turned 58 — which would be 4 years from now, that meant she only had 4 years left — if the prediction was correct. I asked her, “What would you like to do?” and she smiled at me, “Live. That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

If you know exactly how many conversations you have left with someone, what would you be telling them?

You would want to let them know how you feel about them, that you love them very much. Because those are the only chances you have left.

If you know your time is limited, and your time with other people is also limited, what would you do?

I stumbled upon this quote this week and thought it was a very friendly reminder:

“Almost everyone has at least one person on their phone who will never pick up the phone again.” — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

I hope you take a moment this weekend to rest,

I hope you take a moment this weekend to be with yourself,

To celebrate yourself, to embrace your shortcomings, to honor your victories.

I hope you take a moment of this weekend to spend with those you love and tell them how much you love them.

In case they forget, remind them again.

If you are reading these words,

Thank you for being here,

In case you forget,

Thank you again.

Loves,

Tracy
