DropChain at 8BTC World Conference Wuzhen
An update from Billy Chan, CEO & Founder of DropChain.
On 29 June, 2018 the DropChain team attended the 8BTC World Blockchain Conference in Wuzhen, China. The event is one of the largest blockchain and cryptocurrency conferences this year, with over 5000 guests and hundreds of companies in attendance.
The Conference is the annual cornerstone event for the blockchain community in Asia, attracting many leading contributors, key opinion leaders, and major blockchain project representatives. We had the opportunity to meet with several high-profile investment groups and industry leaders during our visit to Wuzhen.
The DropChain team enjoyed dinner with Professor David Lee from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), author of Inclusive Fintech and co-founder of BlockAsset. Professor Lee and DropChain founder Billy Chan had a terrific discussion on financial inclusion, and how blockchain technology can have a positive impact on all levels of society.
Unlike many blockchain projects, DropChain does not see blockchain as a tool for eliminating jobs along the supply chain in the name of efficiency. Rather, we believe that blockchain tech can be leveraged to drive new and greater value along each distribution point along the supply chain.
In addition to connecting with countless others, Billy was also tasked with delivering a keynote speech on-stage, discussing the work DropChain is doing on food traceability and transparency. The speech generated plenty of excitement from the crowd, many interested in how we plan to gamify and incentivize modern supply chains to improve stakeholder engagement.
The conference was an amazing event and we benefited from the strong networking opportunities and project exposure — and it was just the beginning! DropChain’s team will continue its roadshow around the world, attending prominent events to further share our work and mission.
