U.S. — In yet another crazy turn of events during 2020, Alvin and the Chipmunks are refusing to sing their trademark Christmas song before December 1st.

A major hit since the 1950s, The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) has found a home in the hearts of Americans nationwide, and for many, it can be seen as the unofficial start of the Christmas season.

However, Alvin and his brothers, Simon and Theodore, have something that they would like to say to all of the people trying to get into the season too early:

“Stop with all the Christmas songs and decorations in October and November!” the trio chimed in together. “It’s insane! Let the other holidays have their own time to shine. Christmas already has the entire month of December, so there’s no need to rush things. As for us and our family, we won’t even consider starting to sing Christmas songs until December 1st!”

A spokesperson for the Chipmunks’ record label has further confirmed that the song will no longer be available for listening, purchasing, or streaming until the first of December.
