BFCM 2019 in Numbers

Congratulations on making it to the end of the Black Friday Cyber Monday crescendo of 2019! As much as it was chaotic, these eCommerce events made some businesses and shoppers very, very happy.

BFCM 2019 was record-breaking! Sure enough, Black Friday and Cyber Monday pulled in some huge numbers for eCommerce businesses all over the world. While Black Friday sales alone were able to reach $7.4 billion, Cyber Monday sales totaled a skyrocketing $9.4 billion!

There were also a number of trends and patterns observed that could mean a lot for 2020 strategies as early as now. Aside from the extended sales period compared to yesteryears, there was also a continuous increase in mobile shopping as well as the Buy Online Pick Up In-Store purchases (BOPIS).

There was also a noticeable increase in the popularity of subscription type eCommerce businesses. Based on this trend, it looks like 2020 will be seeing more subscription-model businesses.

Another trend observed this year was free shipping with 78% of merchants offering it.

When it comes to promotion channels, email marketing, and SMS marketing were more utilized this year, contributing to conversions and placed orders. In fact, one of our clients was able to make more than $40,000 in email marketing revenue using our six-step email sequence.
