A short overview of the basic dynamic pattern governing want versus need.

How are emotions habituated into the physical body to reflect the mind for consideration? Like all truth, it turns out to be simplicity itself.

Picture in your mind a see-saw. There is one in your mind, in your emotions, and is reflected in the habituated responses of your body. Want is governed by two forms of focus that sit on either side of the see-saw. Interest is on one side, while upon the other is curiosity. Need is governed by pleasure on the one side, with suffering on the other. Dependant upon which side is in the up position, and for how long, an emotional response is embedded within the body. Another way of picturing this is that you are in the center of a clearing within a vast forest. Each time want or need wins out in the see-saw between knowledge and understanding, a ‘deer trail’ is made in the virgin, ancient forest. The more the path is trodden, the more deep and broad the trail becomes over a succession of Now. Understanding this process is the beginning of the transposition from knowledge to understanding. Being consistently aware of the choice is the practice that determines one’s awareness the process itself. It is a metaphor f0r the baseline processes which govern all processes within this living reality. More to come…
