There is a lot that we don’t see

And it takes a lot to make it there

There is a lot that we don’t see when it comes to success of any kind, entrepreneurship, sports, music and so on. However, we are constantly flooded by overnight-like success stories that only highlight the results and miss out the journey.

I recently watched “Borg Vs. McEnroe”, on the surface, a movie about one of the greatest rivalry in tennis history, but beyond that, a story about the struggle, pressure, commitment and hard work that every person willing to succeed have been or is going through.

It is a movie about what the majority of the people don’t see or even think about when it comes to high-level achievements. A window into how it is and what it takes to reach great success in your field, and remain at that level.

It is a story about humans like you and me, that face the same personal and mental challenges, but which level of scrutiny is even bigger due to there public exposure.

It is about demystifying the “overnight success” and demonstrating that is not only a matter of talent, but instead hard work, a lot of it.

It is about patience. They were in the making for a long time, the improved, they got support, mentorship, advice, they had to listen to others, reflect, be able to overcome some of their own fears.

It is a movie that shows you that if you are on this path, it won’t always be straightforward, nor an easy ride. Nothing is handed to you; you are only given opportunities and it will be your responsibility to make the most out of them. It doesn’t matter how good you think you can be, only your actions will speak.

There are victories and failures, ups, downs, struggles, challenges, roadblock and of courses success, not all is pain and tears, but there are sacrifices and decisions that are not always going to be easy to make. There is a lot that we not see, and this movie gives you a glimpse on that side, one that is not glamorous, fun or exciting, but also one that makes it very clear that those on top are not very different than the rest of us, they’re just willing to do whatever it takes.

There’s a lot that we don’t see, and we should talk more about it. The journey, the hustle, the learning should be as important and the glory after the finish line. Let’s share, show to the world and embrace it.
