Randy’s Week 2 Parlay Picks

Last week was not a good start to my betting season. I went 2–3, including losing the game I felt the most confident in, Detroit over New York. In my defense, Week 1 is always the toughest week.

Predicting the first week of the NFL season is a nightmare. New coaches surprise and disappoint(or just disappoint as they went 0–7 in Week 1), over-hyped teams struggle and underrated teams shock us.

Last week we saw Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tampa Bay put up 48 points on the road against the Saints while Pittsburgh couldn’t outscore Cleveland in 70 minutes.

In Week 2 it’s important not to overreact. Thursday night’s game made my point for me. The Ravens the biggest blowout in Week 1 against the Bills, but got thumped against the Bengals in Week 2. Don’t bet on a team in Week 2 just because they surprised you with a performance in Week 1. Chances are they fall back down to earth in Week 2, which will be my theme this week.

Houston Texas at Tennessee Titans- Texans -3:

This is a big game for both teams, who are both contenders in the AFC South and both lost last week. The difference here is that the Texans are healthy and the Titans are not. Titans lost Delanie Walker, they’re best receiver by far and Marcus Mariota is banged up and may split time with Blaine Gabbert. This just feels like a game that Houston wins by at least 10 and it potentially could be the biggest blowout of the week.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Bucs- Eagles -3:

What comes up, most come down and Ryan Fitzpatrick against a defense that shut down Matt Ryan is definitely going to come down. Tampa Bay may be at home, but the defense is horrendous, the run game is pretty average and they may be without DeSean Jackson to go along with their top two corners. I hate betting on the Eagles when Nick Foles starts, but he won’t have to be great for the Eagles to win by at least 4.

LA Chargers at Buffalo Bills- Chargers -7.5:

Two things are working for the Chargers this week and that’s all you really need to focus on for this bet. Josh Allen is making his first NFL start and the Chargers have to avoid starting 0–2 in a tough AFC West. The Bills offense is garbage right now. No receiver or rusher went over 40 yards and their quarterbacks completed just 11 passes in 39 dropbacks that also included 6 sacks and two interceptions. Chargers by 20 this week.

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars- Patriots -1:

These days the Patriots are short on weapons with Julain Edelman suspended, Danny Amendola a Dolphins and two running backs injured, but they still have Gronk and Brady. The Patriots also have a much better defense this season. The defense will keep Jacksonville under 20 and that’s all Brady really needs to win games, even with limited weapons.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys- Giants +3:

The Giants banked on their present when they drafted Saquon Barkley over Sam Darnold with the number two overall pick. They need this game badly. If they fall to 0–2, most likely they are two games back to two teams in the division and have already lost a critical divisional game. But the Cowboys need this one too before Jerry Jones starts to panic and make even more bad decisions. I still like the Giants on the road in this game. They’re the better team with the better quarterback and a lot more weapons on offense.
