“Curiosity killed the cat”, the mysterious man whispered eerily as he placed his suitcase on the desk by his right. He opened it up, put his ring inside, and took the shotgun sword hybrid into his hands. Luna was cautious of his actions, keeping her distance. She observed around. The dim-lit room had four doors equally spaced.

“Luna, have a seat, it might take a while”, He invited her to his desk beside him. “I knew you’d follow, just as I thought. I lured you here, not to harm you, but join hands, just like Cam did”.

“Who the hell are you!”, Luna questioned again, as she took a step back.

“The staff of Yume wouldn’t work, would it? The real question here is, ‘Who are you?’. We both know you are not Helena’s daughter…”

The mysterious man continued, “This beautiful weapon I am holding, quite robust, ain’t it? Something I made from your blood. An ancient mythical called the “Shinotenshi”, one of the most powerful in the Universe.”

“My blood?”, Luna whispered.

“Let’s talk about you now, or should I say, ‘The Angel of Death”, as we Enferians have known you to be…”, He smirked as he began his narration.

It’s a story from several years ago. The mysterious man was Dr. Luke Watson, a descendant of the remnants of the Enferian bloodline. He was a runaway scientist from the dark void, based out on a planet at the edge of the universe, Troplane. It was almost twice the size of the Earth and belonged to one of the most ancient and stable star systems to host life. Evolution had its way, and life, very much similar to that found on Earth, thrived there. At the top of the food chain of their planet were human-like species, the Troplaneans, one of the most advanced civilizations to exist.

Troplane was a multi-diverse ecosystem, a hub to a lot more, both legal and illegal, for it hosts the only known place in the realm of Etheria that is connected directly to the dark void, enabling anyone to transcend between the realms. Only a few knew of its existence and how to access it though. The planet was also the only place not under the complete control of Iglesia. It had cultures and citizens from across the realms. Luke was one of them. Half of the planet was a lawless, and ruthless place, the home to some of the most nefarious activities out there. And the other half was dominated by the noble and humble Troplaneans.

11 years ago, Troplane faced an extinction-level threat. Scientists detected an asteroid on a collision course with the planet. It was big enough to destroy most of the surface life. During that time, Luke came into the limelight as he devised a solution, and the Troplanean government had no other choice but to fund his research and support him. Luke was aware of the developments in the dark void, and of the rumor of the birth of the ‘Angel of death’, the one who possessed a rare blood type, even among the Enferians. It could be used to forge the long lost mythical Enferian weapons, and one such weapon was destructive enough to change the course of the asteroid.

And 8 years ago, Luke finally got the opportunity to execute his master plan, when the whereabouts of the Angel of death (aka Luna) were traced back to Earth. He was to partner with her and make her forge the weapon they needed. However, Luna turned out to be far more hostile. She was ruthless and cold. Luke observed and waited for his chance to capture her and to use her in his secret experiments.

With Helena and the members of Iglesia getting involved, he couldn’t succeed. However, he was there, at the temple that day. He was able to collect a blood sample. This was the start of Project X. He would set up a secret lab on Earth for his research, to artificially create mythical weapons. Troplaneans remain uninformed of the inner details. Eventually, he succeeded in creating a special ‘creature’ with the help of Luna’s DNA to facilitate his research. Using the blood of this clone, he continued his study and finally forged the Shinotenshi, the ultimate weapon of the angel of death, strong enough to change the course of the asteroid and save planet Troplane. It absorbed natural energy and reshot it into highly focussed beams of destruction. Luke’s actual pursuit was, however, something beyond this weapon.

He’d come back to Troplane with the weapon, save the planet, take the honors and resources he wanted in return from the Government. He then returned to Earth in the present day to continue his actual plan. to overthrow the order of Iglesia and build a new and free world for all. He claimed that the members of Iglesia were all manipulators and liars, and it was time to stop their reign.

Or, that was what he narrated to Luna.

“You know, what’s strange in this story?”, Luke remarked, “The blood I originally collected from you was strangely Elysian, but the blood of my cloned creature was Enferian, as it should have been. Helena did something that completely changed you, didn’t she?”

“The only strange part of this story is you!”

“You’ve mistaken. I don’t side by Enferia, nor Elysia. Let us join hands, and together we can rule the new world where true freedom exists.”

It was too much to take in at once. Luna thought for a moment. Her memories of the past have always been fuzzy. She didn’t believe Luke’s story in entirety but she could grasp the secret of her identity in it. The truth was, she didn’t believe in the Iglesia either. She always doubted that they were hiding something. She needed to extract more information. His intentions seemed righteous, but he was like a mad scientist.

“What’s Uncle Cam’s role here?”, She probed.

“Ah, yes! He’s helping me out in my quest. In return, I promised him to save his son. You know I can save him. We can save him.”

“And then you expect to woo him to join this resistance I suppose?”, Luna added.

“You see right through me, don’t you?”, Luke smirked.

“Alright. I am in”, She said after a pause, putting up a fake confident face.

“Quite surprising!”, Luke remarked as he placed the Shinotenshi on the desk.

“You’d be dead before you know if you try to backstab”

“Why would I? The Iglesia has always looked dangerous. If I am really an Enferian as you say, I need to find my origins. Easy to pursue here than at Iglesia”, Luna replied.

“Smart and sensible, the Luna I expected you to be”, Luke praised her.

“So, where’s this clone creature of yours’”, She asked looking around at the doors, as she took a step forward. Luna knew what that creature was, right at the moment when he first mentioned it.

“Ah, my little blood bank..”, Luke whispered as he led her to the door to his right. He opened it.

“Behold my greatest creation…”

The door led to a tiny chamber with a lot of wiring and scientific equipment around. At the center was a capsule filled with a strange liquid. In it, stood afloat was something that sent a shiver across her spine.

“So, we finally meet for real”, Luna thought as she tried to hide her disgust.
