Defense Against Tyranny
The Pro Gun crowd offers many defenses for owning guns, but one of the most often quoted is the “Defense Against Tyranny” argument. In other words, we need our guns to defend against an overreaching government. But often, they make it sound pretty simple, like challenging Nancy Pelosi to a duel.
But what I never hear as a reply is that “Defense Against Tyranny,” in this context, is actually armed insurrection against the the American military — the most powerful fighting force the world has even known. They have tanks and predator drones and aircraft carriers and guys that can shoot you in the face from half a mile away.
Despite the Rambo cosplay fantasy, the reality is that one could give every un-enlisted American a bazooka and we would lose that war in an hour.
