Upcoming Book Tours for Summer 2021 and Beyond
One of the many things that we were unable to take part in during 2020 was in-person book tours and book readings. There’s something special about sitting under the sound of an author’s voice, listening to stories come to life from the mouth of their creator. It’s like returning to story time as a kid. There’s a magical moment when the words seemingly jump off the page as they paint pictures in our minds and leave imprints on our souls.
We have missed in-person connection. We have also missed gathering around books together and the excitement that comes from learning, listening, and sharing together around great literature. One of the exhilarating things we are looking forward to in summer 2021 is the opportunity to meet our favorite authors in person on book tours.
So we gathered a few in-person and virtual readings to check out this summer and beyond. Happy reading!
1. Emily Henry, Author of “People We Meet on Vacation”

2. Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Author of “Begin Again”

Part biography and part cultural analysis, “Begin Again” explores the life of James Baldwin and his writings on America’s failures to confront racism during the Civil Rights era when movement leaders were lynched and murdered. Author Eddie S. Glaude, Jr. parallels the observations of Baldwin to today, as the nation once again deals with the terrible truth of racism. For the southeast coast book lovers, you can catch Eddie on his book tour in Atlanta in late July.
3. Jenn Northington and Swapna Krishna, Editors of “Sword Stone Table”

A modern take on classic myths and beloved legends, readers can truly find themselves in these tales of old. Book lovers can hear contributors and editors of the anthology read excerpts aloud this summer. The reading will take place at The Mark Twain House & Museum on August 3.
4. Danielle Geller, Author of “Dog Flowers”

In her memoir, “Dog Flowers,” author Danielle Geller takes readers on a journey to her late mother’s home: the Navajo reservation. As she deals with the grief of her mother’s death, Danielle tries to piece together her mother’s life, her connection to home, and her need to leave it. Come out to hear Danielle share her story in person in New York City this August!
5. Julia Phillips, Author of “Disappearing Earth”

6. Marlowe Granados, Author of “Happy Hour”

Marlowe Granados is another new talent who is making a name for herself in the literary world with her book “Happy Hour.” A perfect summer read, “Happy Hour” tells the story of youth well spent. Catch the author in New York City mid-September to ask her all the questions you’ll be dying to know after reading this one!
7. Nickolas Butler, Author of “Godspeed”

You’ll definitely want to get your book signed after reading Nickolas Butler’s “Godspeed.” The storyline follows three construction workers, Cole, Bart and Teddy, who are hired by a wealthy homeowner to complete an expensive project outside the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming. The only problem is the homeowner wants the project completed in just a few months. Butler explores what people will risk for the allure and power of money. Meet him in person for his first stop in October along his book tour!
