As the saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. As the weather warms up and we are increasingly inundated with beautiful outdoor scenery, let’s take our indoor winter reading routines outside! Nature and books go hand-in-hand like peanut butter and jelly (or at least we think so here at Copper.)

We’ve come up with some fun ideas to embrace the spring season and to take your reading habits outdoors.

1. Read outdoors in a hammock.

Hammocks aren’t just for sleeping. Take your favorite book with you the next time you head outside to lie on your hammock. This reading hack is the quickest way to feel like you are in some exotic locale reading beachside.

2. Read by the water.

Speaking of water, there is something so cathartic about reading with the sounds of the ocean in the background. If you don’t have the luxury of living within walking or driving distance from the beach or even a pool, on the next rainy day, head to your window sill and take some time to read. The sound of the rain will provide the perfect background noise for a warm, cozy read.

3. Read near a scenic view.

Take your favorite book with you on the go (and send the Copper team a photo of it!) With the weather warming up, we love to get active and go outdoors as much as possible. Next time you go for a sunset or sunrise hike, take your current favorite book with you. It’ll make for a great rest and moment of recharge after a long hike!

4. Read outdoors at sunset or sunrise.

You don’t have to go far to enjoy a good book. You can literally take your reading hobby to your backyard, front porch, or upstairs deck. Reading can follow along with you wherever you go and traveling long distances isn’t necessary to embrace the outdoors while reading.

5. Read at an outdoor picnic.

We love a good picnic at the park. What a great place for your next reading session! This might not be the ideal place to read if you are easily distracted by ambient noise or passersby. However, if you are looking for a change of scenery and don’t mind a little background noise, grab your lunch, a blanket, and your current book and head to the park.
