Today, I Love You

Jul 26, 2019 · 1 min read

She lies a few inches away.
Her presence adored
with a tensed countenance
And although her shut eyes
try their best and hide
Maybe my intrepid touch
would help her humanize.
She is but inches far away.

The darkness of night
droops my vision.
Across a glass canvass
I can see her face
The glass shatters
a million pieces of fate
She drizzles over me
spurting fountains of blood,
But as she sticks to me
I don’t mind the blood.

Even the murky ghosts,
lurking at your door,
don’t haunt me anymore.
You’ve stuck with us
through the darkness,
embraced my demons too.
It’s too much trouble
to not blow my cover
against every breath that wins me over.
So I don’t care for any tomorrow
because today I love you.
