Webinar — Open Source Innovations : A new approach to Accelerate Energy Access
It can help drive down costs while improving quality, can save you valuable time and might just get more word-of-mouth and “buzz” around your product or idea. So are you already taking advantage of using or publishing open source materials, or has something been holding you back?
EnAccess is pleased to host a two-part webinar series to discuss what makes Open Source special in the Energy Access sector, and go over all the pros and cons with real developers and adopters of open source tools. The second webinar is scheduled for September 28, and registration is open!
Two things that I’ve learned over the years — the energy access sector is far more sharing-oriented and not as IP-focussed as often assumed, and open source isn’t just for software anymore. During these webinars we will hear directly from innovators, adopters of these innovations as well as supporters — e.g. donors — who enabled the creation of these innovations, about their experience with Open Sourcing.
Panelists in this webinar series include:
Annette Mumbi - Cross Boundary
Bryan Silverthorn - Angaza
Dimitris Mentis - World Resources Institute
Vaibhav Vaidya - SimuSolar
Mark van Niekerk - FRES
Catherine Adelmann - Fosera.
Who should attend the webinars?
Innovators in the clean Energy Access sector: Companies and organisations that develop innovations in technology, business models and financing to accelerate Energy Access.
What do we hope you’ll learn?
There are more advantages to open source both as a developer and as an adopter than you might have considered in the past. Our speakers will give you real-world examples about how open source has benefitted their profit-driven company. The adopters of open source tools will speak about how and why to use and build on top of open source successfully. You’ll also hear about the disadvantages and hurdles, and there will be a Q&A.
How can I sign up?
Register here! The webinars will be held live from 3:00pm-4:00pm Central European Time on September 14 and September 28, and of course a video recording can be shared with anyone who can’t make it. For now, block that time in your calendar and subscribe to the EnAccess mailing list if you would like an inbox reminder.
