Twitter and Apple are both hiring journalists to curate their new news and events offerings and Twitter recently introduced their new Curator tool for collecting, organizing and displaying tweets across a range of platforms. While you can already create custom timelines, the new Curator tool is much more robust and flexible. I’ve long followed the growth of tools like Storify and Rebel Mouse closely and this seems like another good addition to newsrooms’ curation toolbox.
In his last post at The Dish, Patrick Appel discussed “how to read the entire Internet” and curate the best of it. On Medium, Pat Kitano recently made the case for what he describes as a methodology for curating topic based local news.
And while this Beth Kanter post, “Content Curation Primer,” is from 2011, it does a nice job breaking down how to fit smart curation into your daily workflow.
