Vertical and horizontal scaling simply explained

In this post we look at two terms thrown about by systems architects and breakdown what they mean. Scaling verticallay and scalling horizontally.

Scaling vertically = adding more resources to the existing server. For example increasing RAM or adding more CPUs.

Scaling horizontally = adding more servers.
