Following on from the first podcast in the series — in ‘Music Navigation’, as promised we will take a look at the second instalment discussing the music industry further.

For those of you who are joining us, just a little information about — Podcast: A podcast is an episodic series of spoken word digital audio files that a user can download to a personal device for easy listening.

So, I was recently asked by the Sync Lodge Podcast owner — Lionel Lodge to provide a podcast session on the navigation of the music industry for a new artist, with my colleague Mark Jennings.

We felt this was really important in the current entertainment landscape to help bands navigate the industry and to gain more knowledge.

Each episode brings together two music industry professionals, to discuss in-depth an area of music, and/or the industry, they are passionate about and have an intimate knowledge of.

The series also covers other aspects of exploring music, where the sessions explore the obscure, where the sessions delve in deep, into the vast vaults of great, but maybe, not so known, music and the industry that, for better or worse, supports it.

This session is covering, more of what a label can do for a band to appointing a manager to sell your music for Film & TV — and all in between.

Part 2

Exploring Music Podcast Episode — Music Industry Navigation for New Artists Part 02 of 02 with Peter Moore and Mark Jennings.

The music industry has so many moving parts, from management to publishing, touring, agent and all in between.

A new band starting out can be a huge undertaking, but of course full of excitement and above all should be fun.

If you are just putting a band together for fun or you want to take the artists to the next level, I hope this podcast will help you navigate the music industry a bit better, unfortunately, there is no secret sauce as such, but the secret from me to you is to be the best you can, in the podcast you will hear me say a lot be “respectful” and “pilot” to people, this will go a long way in your career, whether its music or another industry — this can help to create a seamless way forward.

The record industry is a business, and the creative bit comes second, this has been that way for many years.

I understand everyone wants the BIG record deal, but the truth is they don't exist anymore, but this doesn't mean you can’t have a successful career, it just means you're got to work that bit harder and be respectful on the way up, because its a lonely way back down-and sometimes with a big crash, just ask as many questions you can and be really respectful, it will get you a long way — and you will gain plenty of invaluable knowledge.

My experience has taught me a lot in the music, film and festival arenas, and even more now with the current situation we all face as a global community, everyone just has to be that bit smarter in the way we all work and live our lives...
