When I was a kid, my grandfather, during summer walks at the beach, used to tell me, “The truth is like the tide — you can push against it all you want, but eventually, it swallows you whole.” He wasn’t talking about the oil industry or electric vehicles, a sci-fi dream by then, but he might as well have been. Because right now, the tide is turning, and no amount of corporate spin can hold it back.
Sure, the Wall Street Journal practically beamed with its headline “The fossil fuel industry gets its revenge on green activists,” while adding that:
“The Trump administration has cranked out approvals of major projects to ship liquefied natural gas from the Gulf Coast and killed a host of climate-related initiatives. Meanwhile, Texas billionaire Kelcy Warren has won a nearly $700 million verdict against Greenpeace that could spell the end of the group’s U.S. presence.”
And in what must have been an inside joke at the West Wing, Trump just put a fracking executive in charge of the Department of Energy’s renewables office while also trying to resurrect coal. Climate denial is policy now — just ask Katherine Calvin, NASA’s former chief…
