Global Warming Turned My Favorite Season Into a Scorching Nightmare
A warmer planet is not the one where we can thrive
As a kid, summer was my favorite season.
With clear blue skies during the day and starry infinity at night, it won my heart in those early years. Long, sun-filled warm days made summer so pleasant that I always wished it would last longer.
Of all the seasons, summer was the one I fell in love with.
But not anymore.
As an adult, I now see summer as a merciless season filled with scorching nightmares. Due to global warming and climate change, summer in my country has already lost all its charms. Heatwaves and heatstrokes have become the definition of summer in this part of the global east.
This summer we witnessed the longest heatwave in history that left at least fifteen people dead from heatstrokes.
Not just my country, but most countries are now confronting unprecedented changes in weather patterns. The seasons that were once lovely and beautiful have now turned into unpredictable and extreme.
The problem is — the situation isn’t improving with time. Instead, it’s slowly going to get worse.
