The Herald

Hers was the light, the radiant beam from heaven that shone down upon us. She was the herald, the voice, and the emissary. She would guide the Resurrected Seraphim back from beyond Eternity, so they could walk among us again.

She told us all of this, in our own languages, using imagery and myth from our own religions. She sang scripture from the skies above sprawling cities, healed the sick with a kiss, and sanctified the desert, making it fertile. All flocked to her, seeing a savior. There were none who disbelieved. The most fundamentalist zealot knelt beside the most cynical of atheists in worship of her.

She refused our worship, telling us she was nothing, nothing before the glory of the First Seraphim. The First Seraphim are Light itself, she would tell us, they are Light Incarnate. Her miracles had been wrought, she explained, to make the world holy enough for them, and for those that follow.

The Resurrected Seraphim

The First Seraphim came among us as solid light. Walking prism-men that dwarfed the tallest skyline strode across the surface of the world and called it small. They convened in a crystalline structure that folded space in 10 dimensions.

One day a man approached their merged hard-light forms, proposing to meditate upon them. At the 10th second of the 10th minute of the 10th hour of the 10th day, he finally saw past the humble 3 dimensions of human perception, first seeing time become solid around him, then the latter 6 opening with increasing impossibility.

When he unlocked the 10th dimension, his mind was drawn from him, peeled off from his soul as both were uploaded to the omnidimensional hypercomputers of the Third Seraphim.

And so did all the great thinkers and holy people come to the First Seraphim, gazing deep into their 10-dimensional geometry to become operating software for the machines that map Infinity. As they joined with the precision devices of the Third Seraphim, their still-living bodies were guarded by those left behind.

Invasion of the Second Seraphim

Those who remained behind did so to defend against the return of the Second Seraphim. Living nightmares, a failed god experiment, they had ruled humanity as sadistic tyrants at the end of a degenerate epoch. Though their last remnants were destroyed by humankind many long ages past, the Second Seraphim have risen again in the chaos wrought by the Cosmic Fury that marks the End of an Eon.

Standing fast at the vanguard of defense are the Heroes of the Fifth Seraphim. They had been elevated from among the people in ancient days, and empowered via all extant supersciences of the Third Seraphim, in order to overthrow the profane hedonism of the reigning Fourth.

The Fourth Seraphim also returned, but took no side in the imminent battle, seeing it all as good sport.

It was the Sixth Seraphim, the half-mortal descendants of the Fifth, whose destructive civil war ignited the Cosmic Fury, unwriting the very rules of reality. Very few of these remained, scattered among the armies on both sides of the conflict.

The battle with the Second Seraphim rages long and hard, cracking the Foundations of the Universe. The Fourth Seraphim haven’t even time to regret their folly, learning only too late that there are no spectators in war.

The Fifth Seraphim fight to the last, their vulnerable charges now prey to the depredations of the monstrous invaders.

End of an Eon

And then the herald emerges once more as a beacon, fed by the Light of the First Seraphim.

She splits the Second Seraphim asunder as they come, drawn to the Light that would devour them, and imprisons them within the crystalline bodies of the First Seraphim. There they wil burn into nothing by the very Light that had drawn them hence.

But such fuel creates a Fire that burns too hot, soon blazing beyond all control, across the vast entirety of the Universe, umaking Creation itself in the boiling heat of the Cosmic Fury.

As the Eon of Dominion, Second of all Existence, approaches its Final End, the last fading Fire within the First Seraphim is enveloped by the dwindling Shadow of the Second.
