Stepping into the Unknown
Today I got to think about stepping into the unknown.
When I first made the decision to quit my high-paying job and give up my permanent resident status in Singapore, people around me thought I was crazy.
Though, I completely understand where they were coming from. It’s a crazy thought to just give up everything you worked so hard for and start from scratch, especially when they are so many people who would give everything up for the same opportunity you had.
However, I knew it’s the right thing for me to do. I knew it was time to start afresh. Sometimes, you just have to take the leap of faith. Sometimes, you have to remember that no one knows what’s in your heart better than you do.
Almost a year in after I made the decision, I didn’t regret one bit. I’m very happy where I am. I have taken a new career path. I’m now doing social media marketing full time, and I enjoy every minute of it. In my spare time, I teach dance and help my brothers put up a web development start-up. I’m now busy doing projects that I love to do. I became one of those people. I wake up and I’m excited to start my day and do work that I’m passionate about.
So if you are feeling scared to step into the unknown, that’s completely normal and understandable. But remember that the only thing standing in your way to becoming the person your heart desires to be is that decision. Once you find the courage to jump, I tell you it’s going to be very hard, and you will doubt yourself and your decision. But you will be fine. That’s the thing about chasing your heart’s desires, no one can really predict how it will turn out to be — and it will never be how you planned it. But one thing is for sure, it’s all going to be worth it in the end.
