A couple of weeks ago, Hoy Los Ángeles announced that it was going to start hosting informational sessions called “Cafecito Con Hoy”. This publication took their role to inform the public a step further and sought to connect the immigrant community in Los Angeles with experts usually out of reach to them.

This was apparently well received by the public since turnout to the first event was great, according to an article published by Hoy on March 11. The main topics of discussion during the forum included tips, such as not carrying fake documents to avoid being charged with a felony and others. For those who weren’t able to make it, the article also included the top six pieces given by the guest speaker, Jessica Dominguez, an immigration lawyer. A separate article was actually published as well with 3 videos of the session in Lynwood’s Plaza México, for those interested in watching.

A piece by Latino Rebels also discussed this week, the Mexican residents’ response to deportations of non-mexicans to Mexico. A poll conducted in Mexico showed that 74% of those surveyed disagree with this action. 61% of those surveyed also confirmed that they believe that the U.S. is interested in deporting any immigrant regardless of their criminal or ethnic backgrounds.
