After ICE took her father and brother, an Argentinian native and Jackson, Mississippi resident, Daniela Vargas was released from immigrant detention. The “dreamer” was released without much explanation from the United States government. The release came as a surprise because Vargas was set to be deported without being presented to a judge. There is much speculation as to why ICE released Vargas, one reason being the protests from other Jackson residents. Vargas made an impact on residents and people around the country because a short time before her retention, she spoke about her fear of being deported. It’s thought that her public declaration of that was the reason ICE went after her.
