The country’s second largest city reiterated its commitment to help undocumented immigrants, Steve Angeles reports in Balitang America. Filipinos, a high record of attendance, gathered at the city hall for the Los Angeles’ mayor’s State of the City address.

Mayor Eric Garcetti distanced himself from Trump’s perspective on undocumented immigrants. Since it is believed LA is one of the highest populations of illegal immigrants and there are a lot of speculations on the immigration, Mayor Garcetti put an ease to his fellow Angelenos about this issue under the Trump administration.

“When we build trust with the police department and our people, everyone feels safer, especially immigrant Angelenos, who might be feeling anxious right now,” he said. “That’s why I want you all to hear once again loud and clear that LAPD will never act as a federal immigration force,” reports Balitang America.
