An editorial in Arab American newspaper Al-Akhbar claimed the chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhun was fabricated and the US missiles targeted Syrian civilians.

The article published on the second page by Samer Saba, editor-in-chief, is written in a dark humor tone. Saba congratulated Trump and Putin, then criticized Trump’s actions.

First, Saba started by referring to the train bombing in Russia two weeks ago. Then he praises Putin for being calm in handling the situation and mentions that Russia is the leader of resolving the Syrian conflict.

After that, Saba goes on a full rant on Donald Trump’s bombing of a Syrian army-held airport from which the Sarin gas was launched. Saba congratulated Trump on being “childish” and “foolish,” he also claimed that Trump’s missiles bombed civilians, not the airport.

The article completely denies the chemical weapons attack ever happened. Saba then brings up Saudi Arabia and Israel, blaming the latter for all the chaos in the region.

Does this reflect the ethnic community’s views? Or just Saba’s unquestioned devotion to the Syrian regime?
