After the strict immigration policies put forth by the Trump administration, immigrant families have been fearful of the implications. This article by La Opinión focuses on Lorena Ángel, a Salvadorian mother whose own experiences are relevant to what other immigrant families are currently facing. Ángel’s son came to the United States when he was 7 years old. Ángel preferred to take her chances with the arduous journey from El Salvador to the U.S., than leave her son in her violence-ridden homeland. With the uncertainty immigrants are currently facing in the U.S., Ángel said she would no doubt bring her son to the U.S. again if she had to, because the violence in her country is worse than the consequences her family can face here.
