Melodifestivalen 2016 — Semi Final 4
Semi final 4 had to pick up the slack that was semi final 3, as it was just rubbish (Read all about it here). So let’s get straight into it and find out who’s in, who’s out and what does Molly Sandén latest song sound like.
Isa Update: I have possibly played Isa — I Will Wait 100x since her performance. She better make that final round or else I will cry.

#1 Eclipse — Runaways
Overall Rating: 2/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Sweden’s only rock song within Melodifestivalen
Stand out moment: FLAMES!!! You’re not a rock group without them. They are a talented rock group and they reminded me of the time I used to play Guitar Hero with my brother. I really sucked at that game, but by golly gosh it was fun and that song brings back those memories.
How did they go? Sadly they didn’t make it through. I hope to see it on the next version of Guitar Hero though.
#2 Dolly Style — Rollercoaster
Overall Rating: 3/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Bubble-gum pop with some Katy Perry sprinkles.
Stand out moment: A chorus that builds into a electro pop banger. The Katy Perry cloud at the start was pretty, and I loved their light up shoes (I want a pair).
Let’s be honest the lead singer is the only thing keeping this group together. Without her “Talent?” the group wouldn’t exist. Anywho, the song is catchy as all hell and it’s very family friendly — Which should earn it some votes.
How did she go? Another Andra chansen round for Dolly Style. Will it get through to the final? Hmmm doubtful, but I might be proven wrong.
#3 Martin Stenmarck — Du tar mig tillbaks
Overall Rating: 3/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? It’s similar to a Christmas carol.
Stand out moment: It’s a beautifully sung song. Very heartfelt and is probably something your parents will love. I also didn’t understand the blurring of the camera lens during the performance… Was it for effect? Was it a malfunction?
How did she go? A great song, but sadly the competition was fierce and Martin didn’t make it through.
#4 Linda Bengtzing — Killer Girl
Overall Rating: 4/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Schlager gold!
Stand out moment: Where did this come from? Holy hell, what a fabulous Schlager pop song! I love that high pitch noise during the verses, and the chorus was bloody fantastic.
I’m instantly in love with this song and will be on high rotation during the lead up to Eurovision.
How did she go? LAST? How? WTF? Can I have a revote?
#5 Frans — If I Were Sorry
Overall Rating: 4/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Something you’ll hear off Justin Beiber’s recent album. It’s a very chilled out song and Frans vocals seem very familiar but also unique at the same time.
Stand out moment: When he realises how much the crowd are loving his performance. That smile is super cute and his little dance moves and kicks at the end just shows how much fun he’s having on stage #KickinItWithFrans
It’s a song that will grow on you. It’s chilled out, cute and just lovely.
How did he go? Frans is into the final! Knew that was gonna happen by the crowd cheering near the end of the performance.
#6 Panetoz — Håll om mig hårt
Overall Rating: 3/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Chanting, lots and lots of chanting
Stand out moment: They arrive on stage via transporter!!! Now that’s an entrance! Also loved the fact that they went into the crowd and danced up a storm. So much energy, I wonder if they need a Xanax after that to calm down after that performance?
How did they go? Andra chansen for these boys. Well deserved but would of swapped them out for the fabulous Linda.
#7 Molly Sandén — Youniverse
Overall Rating: 4/5 Schlager Diva’s
What does it sound like? Modern pop with a big chorus.
Stand out moment: When they pull a sheet out of nowhere and the wind machine goes nuts! Also that ending was pretty intense. It felt like it was going to be another verse and that she was gonna belt the crap out of it, then suddenly it ends!
There was so much build up to this performance (From all the other blogs I was reading) and I believe Molly came out swinging and nailed it. Best performance of the night, and possibly one of the top 5 songs of the entire contest so far.
How did they go? Straight to the final.
