How Harnessing Shapes in Events Can Supercharge Audience Emotion!

When it comes to event management and branding, every detail matters. From color schemes and visuals to typography and signage, each element plays a crucial role in conveying a brand’s message. However, one aspect that is often overlooked yet holds tremendous potential is the use of shapes.

So what makes shapes so special?

Shapes possess the ability to penetrate the psyche of the person looking at them. They speak a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries and evoke distinct emotions along with conveying specific messages.

As we understand it, each shape represents something and can fit well within a particular type of event, and that is how we tend to dissect the briefs we receive.

Circles

Circles to us represent a cycle of movement, something that has a beginning and an end, and then a beginning again.

At the same time, it represents harmony, a celebration and completeness.

They convey a sense of inclusiveness and belonging.

For events that a celebratory, especially internal company events, we tend to use circles to create a lot of the event materials and in all honesty, they have had the desired effect on audiences.

Take the above picture for example, this was an event where the global chairman was visiting and it was the launch of their new center.

Just something as simple as an entrance arch was enough to evoke the kind of response that we were targeting, people felt at home.

Squares and Rectangles

They have sharp edges and are pretty much either or without any grey area. They represent stability and steadfastness along with also particularity and convey a sense of professionalism and reliability.

Squares and Rectangles are commonplace with all our events, but they are more profound when we are planning an event for a client within BFSI, Equity funds or Law.

And whenever we work for external events for clients from these verticals, we tend to notice how the audience interacts with the event.

Even with our interactions with clients, we tend to have this understood spot on.

Triangles

Triangles are dynamic and can evoke a range of emotions based on their orientation.

An upward-pointing triangle represents energy, ambition, and progress. It can convey a sense of growth, stability, and aspiration.

Anytime we have a brief that speaks about motivation, or a sales meet where targets are to be set, a triangle more often than not tends to feature in the theme that we design.

On the other hand, a downward-pointing triangle can symbolize stability, grounding, and a solid foundation. Triangles are often used to convey a sense of movement, direction, and strength.

Take the above event for example, an award ceremony rewarding brands that are built with care and who represent the above qualities.

When we talk about the above, we obviously are not saying we tend to restrict our creativity. Any abstract geometric design that is in sync with the type of event can work wonders on the overall look and feel and offer an experience that would be right up there with the best, what we are saying is that this just helps us maintain direction and offer some thought before going back to our clients.
