Factory Tours

Years ago I was meeting with a plastics company about making a residential home security product. I met with a handful of their competitors and most of them offered the same thing: a tour of their factory. I met the workers, saw the machines and materials they used. It was always fascinating to see. It demonstrated transparency. This is a dying art.

Plenty of companies don’t have physical products. There’s no need for a factory tour anymore. But that’s wrong. Whether your client says it or not, they want to see what’s behind the curtain. They want to trust you.

Go on. Give them the tour. Even if it means hosting them for a dinner. There’s nothing more valuable than meeting someone face-to-face.
