Your ad is right but the placement is wrong

I’m was driving up to Crater Lake, Oregon when I noticed a flurry of billboards ruining the precious landscape. One of the ads was for a boot company, telling you to explore the wilderness you were entering. The placement makes sense, only hikers are in the area, however, the billboard was upsetting.

The ad is a stain on the environment. People drive from all over to come here, most of them from cities; the last thing they want is a billboard. It’s like a banner ad: tacky and unwanted. I imagine it’ll make the boot company’s brand memorable but for the wrong reason.

There will always be tempting places to put your message, but keeping the end-consumer can avoid mistakes like this one.
