Many of us as writers on Medium have the same complaint, comments are included in our stories. Medium’s explanation for this is, comments can become lengthy articles if you wish.

Medium helps us with this as you can add pictures, formatting, links and much more to your comments. That was where the crazy idea came from.

This idea came to me when I was writing my latest post on five changes I would like to see Medium adopt.

What stops us putting comments into a publication?

As you hit post at the end of your comment, you get the option to add tags and to add the comment to a publication.

Now I am thinking we don’t want a publication full of posts that say ‘great article.’ Not very interesting at all.

There are, however, times when we all write lengthy replies to posts. Either to expand on an idea further or give our perspective. Many of us have experienced a spike in reads, only to discover this increase came from a comment we made.
